How to Sculpt a Gumpaste Octopus

We were asked to make an octopus cupcake tower for a wedding reception... we obliged! Weighing in at a whopping pound and a half for the large one we call Octavious and the little guy a mere 7 ounces. We didn't give the little one a name just in case you were wondering. Octavious's head and thorax were made from rice cereal treats and covered with fondant which was kneaded with Tylose powder to make gumpaste.

Another FYI, I made the little one first as a reference. And, in case Octavious didn't hold up, I had a back up plan.

Pro Tip: Always have a back up plan!
